Periodontitis in a young female patient
Clinical case illustrating the effect of periodontal therapy (non- surgical and surgical) on resolution of inflammation and gingival health restoration. The patients exerts effective plaque control with the use of a manual toothbrush and interdental brushes.
Periodontitis in a smoker
The 50-year-old female patient suffered from severe periodontitis and reported smoking one pack a day for 30 years. The overhanging restorations were replaced with composite fillings and the patient received a full-mouth disinfection protocol in 2 sessions. She was reinforced to brush twice a day and use interdental brushes. After 6 weeks the demonstration of gingival health is evident.
Chronic severe periodontitis
The clinical picture illustrates gingival recession and tooth migration due to extensive bone loss. Gingiva look red and swollen and abundance of plaque and hard deposits are evident. The patient was motivated to modify her everyday tooth care habits with the use of an electric toothbrush and interdental brushes twice a day. No symptoms were reported after treatment and no tooth was extracted. The patient is monitored every 3 months.
